We are Randonnée Aventure, Montreal's friendly club for adult outdoor enthusiasts of all levels. Founded in 1986 as a not-for-profit, volunteer-run club, we have grown to about 300 members. We offer day trips with Saturday and Sunday departures for Hiking, Cycling, Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing.
Our Day Trips
Our carefully selected destinations to some of the most scenic areas in Quebec, Ontario, New England, and New York State, are within a two-hour drive of Montreal. We travel by luxury coach and occasionally by car pool.
Departure points are conveniently located near Metro stations. On the bus ride, we provide you with detailed maps of a variety of well-scouted trails and routes to accommodate most ability levels. On our return home, we often include a pub stop to relax and share the day's adventures.
Trips are non-guided. We assume all members to be self-reliant and properly equipped, and ask them to form small groups when doing an activity. The trip leaders help new members to join a group at the appropriate level.
Our Weekend Getaways
We offer several exciting two to four-day weekend getaways to outstanding hiking, cycling, and cross-country ski and snowshoe destinations. On these weekends, we stay in comfortable condos or hotels.
Orientation
Information and guidance are provided through our orientation activities: a hiking outdoor literacy evening, a ski literacy evening, and a cycling clinic.
Want to get a taste of hiking or cycling with us? Join our Beginners' Invitational Hike in May, our Cycling Invitational Ride in July, or one of our Cycling Meet and Ride events. In the winter, cross-country ski lessons are offered on Mount Royal for a reasonable price.
Our Social Events
There's lots of opportunity to have a great time with fellow Club members. Organized dances, dinners, brunches and picnics are part of the Club's fun social calendar.
The Halloween Party and the Holiday Potluck Dinner are our two most popular events. Come along to one of these parties, or come and meet members for a St. Paddy's Day pub night.
